Giorgio
Do you like Daft Punk? Here is our re-composition of Giorgio by Moroder, and this is the story behind it…
Different languages have different ways of illustrating the same actions. For example, in Spanish we say "tocar el piano": touch the piano. Whereas in French and English, we say "jouer du piano": play the piano.
It doesn’t sound like this would make much difference, does it? Music is music, after all.
But we have found this not to be the case. When you conceive of music being something you play, like a game, everything changes. Suddenly, music can give you the kind of ride you normally get from a game of peek-a-boo — that is, surprise — or a game of chess, tennis or football.
One of the things we love to do with our re-compositions is to really play. To play with the expectations you might have formed around a particular piece of music. To play with different emotional registers. To play with what people think classic and jazz music sound like.
Which brings us to Giorgio Moroder: “Once you free your mind about a concept of harmony and of music being correct, you can do whatever you want”.
So, this is us doing whatever we want with Daft Punk's “Giorgio by Moroder”.
If you like this piece, you’ll love what we’re working on next. So, stay with us and subscribe to the newsletter :-)
