Les Voyages de Belle et Pierre

Do you like road trips? Here is our re-composition of the '80s song "Voyage Voyage", and this is our story behind it…

Someone asked me recently if I like travelling and it made me think, huh, this not such an easy question!

Pierre and I fly quite regularly between Nice and Lima. But I almost don’t think of that as travelling. It’s more like slow teleportation: you walk into a box, you sleep for some time, then you walk out of the box and you’re somewhere else.

It’s crazy that it has become like that, because I remember the first time I was in a plane, every cell in my body felt like it was a miracle. And I would love it if it felt that way again.

What I do like is all the little road trips we do when we’re working on a new piece. It’s almost become part of the process. We get up early in the morning and record the piece we’re working on. Then, we get in the car and just drive in the countryside or along the coast while we listen to it, and we talk about it. Maybe we'll stop somewhere nice and just keep talking and listening until we know what to do in the next version. The next day, we just do the whole thing again, with the new version. We just repeat the recordings and the road trips until we’re happy with it.

I love that we can listen to our music while we’re doing something else, like it's part of the voyage when we're driving the car, and it’s mostly how I think you might enjoy listening to our music too. Not that what we’re doing is background music! I mean it more like films have soundtracks that help to shape the key moments.
